SHERMAN K. POULTNEY WRITER’S BIO ’14                   <poultney2@gmail.com>

 

Sherman K. Poultney is a native New Englander who now resides in North Carolina. He has published his poems, short stories, and plays in various media and has had public readings of his plays with the Fairchester Playwrights. He has attended summer poetry workshops at Sarah Lawrence College and the Frost Place in New Hampshire. He led monthly Poetry Workshop for the Wilton Chapter of the Connecticut Poetry Society using a structured approach taught to him by Laure-Anne Bosselaar. His latest play, “On My Mouth the Taste is Sour”, is about the final days of the Vietnam War stateside. It was workshopped at the Sarah Lawrence 2006 Summer Playwriting Workshop. He continues to publish annual chapbooks of poems and now has 17 volumes. He has won prizes for poems in Massachusetts National Poetry Day Contests, the Brodine Contest of the CT Poetry Society, and in CT Writers' League Contests. His poems have appeared in the 2000 Anthology, “Heartbeat of New England” (Tiger Moon Press), in “Breath of Parted Lips II” (CavanKerry Press) 2004, in “Long River Run II” (CT Poetry Society) 2003 to 2011, Off the Coast, Caduceus, The Road Not Taken (2014), and in “First Tuesday in Wilton” (Stairwell), 2005. He has published photos in Off the Coast. He has a PhD degree in physics from Princeton University, taught at University of Maryland and Fairfield University, and consults with high-tech companies.
